How did Coffee production start in Nepal?
In this article I will tell
you about the History Of Coffee in Nepal.
This information is not 100% true because there is no
evidence to back it up but this story is widely believed on how Coffee was
first introduced in Nepal.
It is said that a monk named Heera Giri was the person who brought the Coffee plant for the first time in Nepal. He brought it from Myanmar (then Burma) in the date 1938 A.D and he planted it in the place called Aapchour of Gulmi district. People didn’t immediately take interest in the Coffee plant and Nepalese were mostly unaware about the Coffee plant. But during the 70s (1970 A.D) some people took notice of it and saw the future of Coffee production in Nepal and they planted in some more places. In that way Coffee plants steadily started to get grown on different favorable places all over the country. Before it was only grown on few districts which are Gulmi, Lamjung, Syangja Nuwakot, kavre and Lalitpur but now a total of 19 Districts have been identified for Coffee production according to the article posted by The Himalayan Times.

5. Palpa
6. Gulmi
7. Arghakhanchi
8. Baglung
9. Myagdi
10. Parbat
11. Dhading

15. Lalitpur
Although Coffee is getting famous nowadays almost every people don’t know the History Of Coffee in Nepal. People have no idea how it was brought to Nepal and how the Coffee production started in the country.
